San Diego FC star Hirving Lozano has revealed his admiration for Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo while building his perfect footballer.

  WHAT HAPPENED?

  In an exclusive interview with GOAL, Lozano was asked to build his 'GOAT' footballer covering seven different categories: left foot, right foot, speed, strength, skills, passing and soccer IQ. The former PSV and Napoli winger opted for Messi's left foot and Ronaldo's right, Paris Saint-Germain's Ousmane Dembele for speed, and Liverpool talisman Virgil van Dijk in the strength section.

  THE BIGGER PICTURE

  Lozano also chose Messi in the skills category, before putting ex-AC Milan and Juventus playmaker Andrea Pirlo in for passing. The Mexico international rounded off his selection by going for the soccer IQ of Real Madrid icon Zinedine Zidane.

  WHAT NEXT FOR MESSI, RONALDO & VAN DIJK?

  Messi and Ronaldo were fierce rivals at Barcelona and Real Madrid for the best part of a decade, but both men now ply their trade outside of Europe. Messi is competing against Lozano in MLS with Inter Miami, and Ronaldo is on the books of Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Nassr. Van Dijk, meanwhile, still forms part of a formidable Liverpool squad that is currently taking in a pre-season tour of Japan.
