Sheffield Wednesday are set to lose right Jack Hunt to Bristol City, and fans are split on what that could mean for the club.

According to Dom Howson of The Sheffield Star, Hunt is “on the brink” of joining Championship rivals Bristol City for around £1.6m.

The Wednesday right back reportedly underwent a medical on Wednesday, and will make the switch in the coming days. The move comes as quite a shock, as reports of Bristol City’s interest only emerged this week.

The Owls need to trim their wage bill this summer, and getting close to £2m for a player who tends to go missing for multiple games at a time could be seen as great business.

The flying full back has some moments of excellence on the attacking end, but his positional sense is questionable to say the least, and a solid defence is key to any possible promotion charge.

Plenty of fans feel the opposite way though, worrying about the possibility of having to rely on Liam Palmer to fill the void, and it’s fair to say Hunt’s energy down that right flank will be a big miss.
